Spanish work hours are notoriously long. Typically from nine to eight with the sacrosanct two hours lunch break. Civil servants and banks may work less hours but shopping malls and department stores have sometimes a strenuous seven days a week, ten to ten schedule. Soy de Bilbao –en algún momento lo tenía que decir–, donde pasé mi juventud viendo llover un día sí y otro también, incluido en agosto. A los veintipico me fui a Madrid, donde sigo asentado, y de lo que más me gustó al llegar fue ver que los días de sol se sucedían ad eternum. Pero, claro, lo mucho cansa y ahora sueño con que el cielo se encapote, sobre todo cuando te das cuenta, en octubre, de que no ha sucedido tal cosa desde hace meses.
